Description of self/services for directory:
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) at Agape Christian Counseling. I view counseling as a safe place in which we will work as a team to create the change that will help you through your struggles. I can help you process your emotions and learn coping skills in order to create healthy ways of thinking and new habits that will be beneficial in your life.
My areas of interest include grief and loss, depression, anxiety, stress, family issues, and a variety of other issues relating to life and/or mental health. I see both teenagers and adults. I use an integrative perspective in counseling, drawing mainly from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, family systems, and gestalt therapy.
Although I am a therapist at Agape Christian Counseling, not all of my clients are Christians or want to incorporate spirituality into therapy. This is completely up to each client and their own unique preferences. I can offer the incorporation of spirituality and Christian beliefs in my counseling sessions at your request.
If you are going through a hard time or if you are struggling emotionally, professional counseling may be the best way to help you live the life you want to live. I would be honored to come alongside you to help you through this tough time.
Areas that match your field of specialization (i.e. anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, etc.):
Anxiety, depression, grief and loss, bipolar disorder, family issues, divorce, life transitions, peer relationships, school issues, self-esteem, stress, addiction, trauma, and codependency.
I am a Certified Clinical Telemental Health Provider offering telehealth virtual counseling sessions to residents of North Carolina (NC) and South Carolina (SC). I understand that making a decision to begin counseling can be an intimidating undertaking, so the option of being able to do so from your own personal space can make counseling more viable and comfortable. I strive to create a safe, supportive, non-judgmental virtual space, and I value the relationship we will develop as an important element to the exploration, growth and/or healing that you desire.
Being among a limited number of therapists certified in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) within the Carolinas, I use the EFT approach to help you reconnect with your partner to create a safer, more secure bond, such that you can get the kind of comfort and understanding you desire within the relationship. As a Certified Prepare/Enrich Facilitator, I also provide premarital counseling. In addition, I have experience working with individuals struggling with diverse challenges, ranging from temporarily overwhelming stressors to life-altering losses or circumstances. Prior experience gives me distinct insight into the demands and stressors of working in corporate culture.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (NC), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (NC), Licensed Professional Counselor (SC) and National Certified Counselor with advanced training in Internal Family Systems. With a Master of Arts in Christian Counseling degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, I am uniquely trained as a Christian counselor and committed to do all I can to make you feel welcome and free from judgment regardless of where you are in your faith walk.
