I view therapy as a collaborative experience and a safe place where people can explore their thoughts, feelings, and relationships. I believe that deep change and growth is experienced through a clear knowing of oneself and a healthy connection to a support system.
I work with women and couples in a number of areas including relationship distress, parenting, identity development, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and life transition. Therapy always builds on a strong relationship between therapist and client first. In addition to the therapeutic relationship, I work from a systems and attachment perspective utilizing Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness and Strength Based approaches and enjoy integrating people’s faith in the work of psychotherapy.
I am also available for consultation with churches and Christian non-profits who desire to build healthy organizations and for graduate students in the field of counseling and psychotherapy as they navigate the transition into clinical practice.

Hello! I’m Pamela Adkins, a licensed clinical mental health counselor. I consider it a privilege to help adults, adolescents, and couples better manage the difficulties life brings, whether it be anxiety, depression, relational or situational occurrences. Often, I find that people think way too little of themselves and have a distorted view of what God thinks and says about them. Unfortunately, life experiences can diminish our self-worth. Exploring all these things in counseling and making space to hold the good and the “not so good” can bring healing and wholeness.I received my undergraduate degree in Christian Education at Lenoir-Rhyne University with a minor in Business. I earned a masters diploma in biblical counseling from Light University Online. And recently completed a master’s degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. The therapeutic modalities that I align most closely with include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. Integrating the Word of God into our counseling is of utmost importance to me as I believe this is where true and lasting change takes place. For the last 3 years, I have had the joy of working with women recovering from addiction. Along with the addiction came a great deal of trauma. Each ladies’ experience was different, and I believe in listening and doing my best to understand each person’s unique story. I take a wholistic approach, treating the mind, body, and spirit.I welcome the opportunity to walk with you through these next steps of your healing journey. Please feel free to contact me at (704) 584-9305 or pamela@surehopecounseling.com if you have any questions.

I largely utilize attachment theory (object relations), narrative, and Biblical insights.
At 20 years old, Raul found himself at a church where someone shared the gospel with him, and he surrendered his life to Jesus. Since then, he has actively served in different churches in their Youth and Young Adult groups. He has had plenty of experience with teens and young adults. He helps people navigate the pitfalls of life and offers support and encouragement for making healthy decisions. Additionally, he has experience working with kids and adolescents as a behavior therapist implementing program and behavior intervention strategies developed by a BCBA to support people with autism. His experience providing Biblical counseling to teens and adults sparked his interest in a career in Marriage and Family Therapy. He finished his Master of Arts in Marriage & Family Therapy degree and is a graduate of Hope International University. In his spare time, Raul loves to spend time with his family and often skates to the coffee shop. As a pre-licensed therapist, Raul is supervised by Kathleen Shanahan, MA, LMFT and Dr. Toni Dunning, MA, DMFT, LMFT.
