Description of self/services for directory:
I care deeply about my work as a counselor and highly value the families, adolescents, children, and couples I have the privilege to work with. I truly feel called to this work and strive to help every client I see to figure out their best path. Whatever your age, circumstance, background, or struggle, I want you to feel welcomed and at home in your session. It is my ultimate goal to help you achieve the goals you have set for yourself and live a happy and healthy life.
In each session, I will assist you in processing your struggles and celebrating your successes through a client-centered approach and will also provide education and resources as necessary for you to meet your therapeutic goals. I use humor and spiritual guidance when appropriate to build a genuine and lasting client-counselor relationship to provide a comfortable and safe environment in each session.
I have a great deal of experience in working with youth and families, especially in high crisis and high conflict situations. I believe the health of each individual is improved when the health of the family is improved and give every effort to help make this happen. I am passionate about working with couples to prepare for marriage, restore a broken relationship, or to manage conflict and improve the quality of their relationship or marriage. I am certified as a PREPARE-ENRICH facilitator and use experiential activities with couples to assist them in learning vital skills to improve the health of their relationship and grow closer.
I offer a judgment-free zone and a very comfortable, laid-back environment in my sessions. I believe it is extremely important for everyone involved to approach the counseling experience with a genuine spirit and willingness to work and I promise you that as your counselor.

Thank you for considering me as your counselor. I consider is an honor when my clients share their life with me and allow me to enter into the areas of their life that they find difficult. As a Surehope counselor I believe in creating an atmosphere that is conducive for healing. A safe and friendly place where my clients feel free to honestly express themselves, and work through the problems they face.
I specialize in working with men and the many issues they may face, such as anxiety, depression, relationship problems, anger, career and job changes, pornography, sexual addiction, sexual identity issues and problematic sexual behaviors. I also specialize in counseling male teen, ages 14 -18.
In addition, I enjoy counseling women who are experiencing anxiety, depression, and relationship problems. I enjoy counseling couples for premarital counseling and couples for marital counseling. Lastly, I also provide career counseling, helping clients find direction for their vocations in life. As a Christian Counselor, I am available to assist people spiritually and theologically with problems and questions they may have about their spiritual life and the Christian Faith.
I earned my Masters in Christian Counseling degree from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. My undergraduate work was done at Columbia International University where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Bible and Church Ministries.
During my Master’s program, I had an opportunity to work with geriatric population in an assisted living facility, and as an intern in a wellness center providing counseling to individuals, couples, families and adolescents. Prior to becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor I worked for fourteen years as a Pastoral Counselor for a nonprofit organization and working extensively with men dealing with problematic sexual behaviors and relational problems.
As a counselor I employ an eclectic approach in counseling using a variety of methods and modalities such as Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Experiential Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. I am also a Certified Prepare & Enrich Facilitator. These are well-established and researched methods of counseling that are widely respected as being effective. As a Christian Counselor I believe in a holistic approach of understanding human life, and offering a compassionate approach to understanding ourselves spiritually.
I am married to my best friend, my wife Teri and she and I are “proudly owned” by our feline Gracie.

Description of self/services for directory: I believe that therapy is a relational art more than a science. God can use a variety of means to bring healing in our lives, and I tend to resonate most with psychological principles observed in Cognitive-Behavioral theory and Adlerian individual psychology. I don’t think any question, doubt, mistake, or broken relationship is beyond the scope of grace and healing. Therefore I treat every client as made in the image of God, and I strive to inspire others with hope for renewed purpose and meaning from unwanted seasons of hardship. I have a wide background of counseling experience with adults in non-profit adoption, campus ministry and church settings, and I’ve also enjoyed working with children and teens in both community mental health and the public school system. I counsel from a judgement-free zone with humor as much as possible, and I want to help others feel comfortable in their skin as they walk through a journey of change. Let’s make change less painful!
Areas that match your field of specialization: I am currently enjoying work in group practice with troubled teens, abuse and trafficking survivors, engaged and married couples (I am a PREPARE/ENRICH facilitator), and individuals struggling with anxiety and/or depression.
