Welcome! It is such a privilege to be invited into the lives of the families that come into my office! Whether you have been referred or are looking for the right therapist, I’m happy to provide answers to your questions.
I specialize in child therapy and pre-teens (along with their families) who are experiencing anxiety, family stress, changes in family structure due to death or divorce, grief/loss, trauma symptoms, ADD/ADHD, behavioral issues, and difficulties adjusting to developmental changes. I also love to work with parents to help them build healthy communication skills with their children, manage difficult behaviors, and foster a strong attachment relationship. In order to help children reach their fullest potential, I use Play Therapy, as well as elements of Expressive Arts Therapy during sessions. These help to creatively expand the boundaries of the mind and provide a non-threatening environment for children to make sense of their inner world. To understand more about why we play, click here.
In addition to child therapy, I am also passionate about working with multicultural issues, including family stress as a result of immigration, language barriers/communication, etc. I also enjoy working with families and adults experiencing life changes, relationship stress, and self-image issues. I believe that each individual, child, and family is unique—because of this, I integrate different models to fit each client. In particular, I use play therapy, Structural Family Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Narrative Therapy, all evidence-based practices. I believe in treating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit, and integrate faith and spirituality into therapy to the extent that it is comfortable to you. I learn a great deal from you as my client and see it as a privilege to be invited into your life. I approach therapy with compassion, playfulness, and openness and respect your courageous decision to pursue therapy.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT) here at SureHope Counseling and Training Center. My education background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Virginia Tech. I am currently receiving supervision toward certification as a Registered Play Therapist (RPT). My background and training includes clinical experience at Pregnancy Resource Center, a county agency for teens and families engaging in family therapy and parenting groups, eating disorder treatment, as well as volunteer experiences with DivorceCare for Kids.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions! I look forward to working with you.

Description of practice: I enjoy working with children/teens ages 10 and up, families, and couples.
Practice type: group practice / non-profit counseling center
Insurance accepted (if yes, what companies): Out-of- Network (will submit paperwork for you if you have out-of- network benefits)
Description of self/services for directory: I believe that therapy is a relational art more than a science. God can use a variety of means to bring healing in our lives, and I tend to resonate most with psychological principles observed in Cognitive-Behavioral theory and Adlerian individual psychology. I don’t think any question, doubt, mistake, or broken relationship is beyond the scope of grace and healing. Therefore I treat every client as made in the image of God, and I strive to inspire others with hope for renewed purpose and meaning from unwanted seasons of hardship. I have a wide background of counseling experience with adults in non-profit adoption, campus ministry and church settings, and I’ve also enjoyed working with children and teens in both community mental health and the public school system. I counsel from a judgement-free zone with humor as much as possible, and I want to help others feel comfortable in their skin as they walk through a journey of change. Let’s make change less painful!
Areas that match your field of specialization: I am currently enjoying work in group practice with troubled teens, abuse and trafficking survivors, engaged and married couples (I am a PREPARE/ENRICH facilitator), and individuals struggling with anxiety and/or depression.

I AM SO HAPPY YOU’RE HERE! Navigating difficulty and trials on your own can be tough - something we should never have to do alone. Life really can throw tough battles our way. At a young age, I was fortunate enough to find those who model a life of Communion and healing through Christ. Naturally, I knew since I had God-fearing and convicted Christians in my life, I had to grow up to become just like them.My goal with you and your loved ones is to open the door for Scripture-based counseling - a life of healing starts with our Lord alone.
I am a Resident in Counseling, graduated with my MEd from George Mason University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My interest areas are emotional trauma, attachment styles/codependency, as well as coping skills and life-transitions. I am well versed in anxiety and panic, depression, and loss. I work with kids, adolescents, and early-to-late teens. I also am fortunate enough to have college-students and young adults under my care as I work in transitionary periods, grief work, as well as young-adult issues. Pneuma launched its practice in January of 2020 with a vision to have a full service counseling and therapy practice for the city of Chicago that sees everyone from adults and couples to adolescents and families and to work with a number of issues such as depression, anxiety, grief and career counseling, but to have a specialization in helping people from trauma and find freedom from addiction, specifically sexual addictions. We have trained therapists who have a heart and passion to help those who are hurting and who want to make changes in their lives. Many of our therapists are trained in EMDR counseling and therapy (eye-movement, desensitization and reprocessing) to aid in the healing of trauma. Additionally, we can provide spiritual and religious integration for those who have a faith background and wish to have their faith values integrated into counseling and therapy.
