Let’s work together to get to the root cause of your distress and decrease problematic symptoms. My name is Kelly Roberson, I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in North Carolina (LCMHCA #A19095) and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). I enjoy working with teens and adults (individual/parents/couples). I have clinical counseling experience with anxiety, depression, parenting, ADD/ADHD, adjustment issues, life transitions (middle school, high school, college, divorce), loss/grief, trauma-and-stressor-related disorders (PTSD), narcissistic abuse, relationships, and couples therapy. Additionally, I have expertise in therapeutic art, career exploration, goal setting, and helping clients discover their purpose to find meaning in life.
I have a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with high distinction from Liberty University (2022) and a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design (1995). I am an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (candidate), a Certified SYMBIS facilitator (Saving Your Marriage Before it Starts), and Gottman Level 1 trained.
My approach to counseling is grounded in an eclectic, evidenced based mix of Psychodynamic, Person-Centered, Existential, and Cognitive Behavioral theoretical (CBT) approaches. I focus on the whole person (holistic): feelings, behaviors, wellness, thoughts, and core beliefs. I also offer online and in person creative art making sessions that provide a safe space to explore and process emotions. These sessions foster self-confidence, creativity, and emotion regulation that promotes decreased stress and anxiety. I work collaboratively with clients to maintain supportive and caring sessions that result in positive change. During sessions, you will find a supportive, caring environment emphasizing unconditional positive regard, encouragement, empathy, genuineness, and authenticity.
