April Broadwater Pomerlyan, MAEd, LPC earned her B.S. in Kinesiology from Liberty University where she also minored in Spanish and Psychology. As part of her undergraduate experience, she spent a summer in Guatemala with Liberty University Spanish Institute. She earned her MAEd in Clinical Counseling from Malone University. April studied Occupational Therapy at the graduate level before realizing she was called to a different form of therapy. She is now a fully Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of North Carolina. She has experience working with children and adults in both office and school settings.
April is certified in Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and has done trauma work with children, teens and adults. She takes an eclectic approach, integrating Person-centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Reality Therapy, Solution-focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) concepts. April enjoys integrating humor into her sessions where appropriate. She believes that the therapeutic relationship is most important, and that the therapist partners with the client to solve problems rather than merely giving advice. She strives to create a warm and caring environment, especially for those who are hurting.
April is originally from Ohio and especially loves dogs and goats – and hopes to one day own land with lots of animals.
She sees clients in our main Charlotte location.
