Chris Cook is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of North Carolina. Chris graduated from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary–Charlotte in 2010. He received a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Christian Counseling. Prior to joining SureHope ministry counseling, Chris served in a variety of ministry positions. He has over 10 years experience in ministry. Chris began seeing clients in his internship in 2009, and has worked in a variety of mental health environments. These include private practice, agency and addictions settings.
He has worked with a wide variety of clients and difficulties. Chris specializes in the following areas: men/pastors, trauma, couple’s work, and spiritual issues. Chris takes a holistic approach to working with people that values individuals as physical, cognitive, emotional, spiritual and social beings. His background also makes him particularly suited for ministry counseling to work with clergy, church staff, and lay ministers. He assists with whatever problems they may face in a manner that values and utilizes their unique situations. Burn-out prevention and recovery, ministry pressure, isolation and spiritual development are only a few of the issues that this group faces.
Chris is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of South Carolina in Counselor Education and Supervision. Additionally, he is the Associate Director of Graduate Programs in Counseling at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary–Charlotte.
